Medical Assistance in Pennsylvania: FAQs and Forms
Medical Assistance is not one program, but many, all administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. These include, for example, insurance coverage for low income adults and children, pregnant women, adults and children with disabilities, and working adults with disabilities. Eligibility for some categories requires information from a clinician. In general, though, the role of clinicians in helping patients obtain coverage has decreased now that Pennsylvania has adopted the Affordable Care Act’s Medicaid Expansion. Most adults can now qualify solely on the basis of being low income.
