PHLP puts great emphasis on supplementing legal representation with community education. Staff conducts trainings on a variety of health law topics, including Health Reform, Medical Assistance (e.g., Home and Community Based Services), Medicare, and Accessing the Health Care System. If you or your organization is interested in scheduling a community education presentation please call PHLP at 215-625-3990.
PHLP also educates clients about their health care rights and encourages self-advocacy. Being able to advocate for oneself leads to better outcomes and increases one’s sense of dignity and accomplishment. To this end, PHLP develops literacy-appropriate materials on appeal rights and navigating the public health care system.
Additionally, PHLP publishes and distributes two bi-monthly newsletters (one covering health law news, the other covering senior health news) to enable readers to stay abreast of cutting edge health law news. We also widely distribute brochures, flyers, and manuals that organizations can use or freely distribute to their own clients.
