The first episode of the Beyond Definition podcast is now live! In this introductory episode, disability self-advocates and content creators Heather Tomko and Jessica Tomko share who they are, what drives their advocacy, and why they created this campaign — a collaboration between PHLP and Pennsylvania Assistive Technology Foundation's (PATF) Project Beyond Diagnosis.
Beyond Definition explores what "developmental disability" really means in Pennsylvania — and how gaps in the way it's defined affect the services and supports people can access. Through podcasts, social media, and newsletters, the campaign is building understanding of how the system works, where it falls short, and what needs to change.
