Residents of Bedford & Somerset Counties Getting New Medicaid Behavioral Health Plan
Effective November 1, 2025, the Medicaid behavioral health managed care plan for Bedford and Somerset counties will change from Community Care Behavioral Health (CCBH) to Magellan Behavioral Health of Pennsylvania.
Medicaid recipients in Bedford and Somerset counties who are currently receiving mental health and/or substance use disorder services through CCBH should check with their current providers to see if they will be accepting Magellan Behavioral Health beginning November 1st. Magellan has been working with providers to enroll them in their network but there is no guarantee all providers are willing to enroll with Magellan or that the enrollment process will be complete by November 1st. Bedford and Somerset CCBH members will also be able to check the Magellan of PA website under “provider search” to see if their providers have enrolled with Magellan, once their website is updated to include Bedford and Somerset counties.
Behavioral health managed care plans for Medicaid recipients are determined by each county or county joinders’ mental health and substance use disorder offices, as they are the primary contractors. The state Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS) oversees the contracts but the decision about what behavioral health managed care plans are chosen is decided at the county level.
Bedford and Somerset CCBH members should expect a welcome letter from Magellan in early October. Additional information about the change can also be found on Magellan's website. A two-pager containing Frequenty Asked Questions (FAQs) is available for download here.
Note that this change only impacts Behavioral HealthChoices for Bedford and Somerset counties. There are no changes to the physical health plans available to Medicaid HealthChoices members in these counties.
